Category A
Motorbike & Three Wheeler – AM
Category AM is a sub-division in Category A which teaches and licenses you to ride Motorbikes of about 50cc and below without any load or passengers. The minimum age requirement is 16 and above.
Motorbike & Three Wheeler – A1
Category A1 is also a sub-category of Category A for a light motorcycle of above 50cc up to 400cc licensed to carry both loads of 60Kg (or less) and a passenger. The minimum age requirement is 18 and above.
Motorbike & Three Wheeler – A2 & A3
Category A2 is for Motorcycle taxis, Couriers, and Three-wheelers of up to 400cc licensed to carry both loads of (100Kg (or less) and a passenger. Category A3 allows for up to 3 passengers. The age is 18 and above.
Category B
Light Automatic – B1
Category B1 teaches and licenses you to a light vehicle (passenger car) with an automatic gearbox. Capacity is capped at a maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 3500Kg with one light trailer (not exceeding 750Kg). Maximum of 7 passengers, and a strict prohibition NOT to drive a vehicle equipped with a manual gearbox. The minimum age requirement is 18 and above.
Light Automatic – B2
Category B2 Enables one to drive a light vehicle (Passenger car) with a maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 3500Kgs with one light trailer (not exceeding 750kgs). This includes vans whose tare weight is below 3500Kgs and which are not used for carrying passengers. Can drive a vehicle equipped with both a manual and automatic transmission. The minimum age requirement is 18 and above.
Professional – B3
Category B2 Enables one to drive a light vehicle (Passenger car) with a maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 3500Kg with one light trailer (not exceeding 750kg). This includes vans whose tare weight is below 3500 kgs and is not used for carrying passengers. Can drive a vehicle equipped with both a manual and automatic transmission. The minimum age requirement is 21 and above.
Category C
Light Trucks – C1
Category C1 teaches and licenses you to drive a light truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 3,500Kgs to a maximum of 7,500Kgs; with manual or automatic gear box. Minimum age requirement is 18 and above
Light Trucks – C2
Category C2 teaches and licenses you to drive a heavy truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 7,500Kgs with maximum one light trailer (not exceeding 750kgs); with manual or automatic gear box. Requirements include: Age 24 and above, 2 years experience of driving category C1; re-training.
